3 June<\/strong> Karol Miarka Square has become a place for celebration, remembrance and intergenerational integration. As part of a local initiative \u201eA Musical Journey Through History \u2013 160 Years of Katowice\u201d<\/strong> The residents of Katowice were able to celebrate the city\u2019s anniversary together in an open-air event!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Live music and a tribute to history<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The programme included artistic performances which created a unique atmosphere and highlighted the local character of the event. The following performers took to the stage:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  • The duo of Natalia Tomecka and Kuba Ko\u0142odziejczyk<\/strong> \u2013 with a subtle, atmospheric repertoire,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • The \u201eKatowice-Kleofas\u201d Accordion Ensemble\u201d<\/strong> \u2013 featuring instrumental music inspired by Silesian traditions,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • The Silesian Folk Choir \u201eZawodzianki\u201d<\/strong> \u2013 featuring vibrant folklore and Silesian folk songs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Art, history and new technologies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    The following could be seen at the event venue:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    • An exhibition of archive photographs of Katowice<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • An exhibition dedicated to Wojciech Korfanty<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • A visual performance by Adam Plackowski<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • The \u201eRajza z Korfantym\u201d VR multimedia zone\u201d<\/strong>, allowing you to take a virtual journey back in time to the city\u2019s past.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      The exhibitions combined historical knowledge with modern forms of communication, engaging people of all ages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Education and community initiatives<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      Participants were able to make use of the entertainment and educational area, run by, amongst others, the \u201ePromyk\u201d Senior Citizens\u2019 Club and the Da Moc Foundation. The following activities were organised:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        \n
      • workshops on urban greenery and ecology,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • traditional Silesian games and pastimes,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • art and social integration activities,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • an information stand promoting pro-social and civic attitudes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        Organiser and implementer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

        The event is organised by\u00a0MOST Association<\/strong>. The project is being carried out, as part of a local initiative, by\u00a0initiative group<\/strong>\u00a0represented by\u00a0Stefania Przyby\u0142a<\/strong> i\u00a0Agata Kaczmarczyk<\/strong>, and the co-organisers are\u00a0Senior Citizens\u201e Club \u201dPromyk\"<\/strong>,\u00a0The Da Moc Foundation<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Society of Friends of Katowice<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        The steering group comprises:<\/strong> Stefania Przyby\u0142a, Agata Kaczmarczyk, Ewa Czardybon, Beata Schwarz, Henryk Bentkowski. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
