Katowice Non-Governmental Organisations Forum: Together for Shared Values
Katowice will once again host a gathering of representatives from non-governmental organisations across the entire Silesian Voivodeship. As part of the Non-Governmental Organisations Forum, under the slogan „Together for shared values”, an event will take place comprising two stages, offering a rich programme for both specialists and the residents of Katowice.
Day One of the Forum – Conference at the Silesian Museum
On 6 September 2024, from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm, at the Silesian Museum, 1 Dobrowolskiego Street, a conference entitled „30 Years of Supporting Civil Society in the Silesian Voivodeship” will take place. This unique event will provide an opportunity to take stock of three decades of non-governmental organisations’ activities in the region. The programme includes lectures, panel discussions, workshops and presentations of best practice, enabling participants to exchange experiences and forge new contacts.

Day Two of the Forum – 13th Non-Governmental Organisations Festival in Katowice’s Market Square
On 7 September 2024, from 11:00 to 16:00, the 13th Non-Governmental Organisations Festival will take place in Katowice’s Market Square (on the banks of the Rawa). Residents of Katowice will have the opportunity to learn about the work of as many as 57 non-governmental organisations from across the region. This festival is an excellent opportunity to discover community initiatives that improve the quality of life for local communities, as well as to meet the people involved in these activities face to face.
The festival aims to promote civic engagement and encourage the residents of Katowice to get involved in activities that benefit their local community. Participants can look forward to a host of attractions, including workshops, demonstrations and presentations of projects carried out by non-governmental organisations. It is also an excellent opportunity to find out how you can support these organisations and play an active part in building the common good.
Attractions:
- Craft fairs
- Painting and craft workshops (e.g. crochet)
- Consultations with a careers adviser and legal advice, as well as the opportunity to meet with an addiction therapist
- First aid demonstrations, a tour of the ambulance
- Exhibition of vehicles organised by the Silesian Automobile Club
- Free blood pressure and blood sugar tests, with the option of having a smear test and spirometry
- Blowing giant soap bubbles, face painting, plaiting hair, making balloon animals, badges and magnets, temporary tattoos
- Activities with the Klanza scarf, art and craft activities
- Zumba and Latin dance workshops for everyone
- Television Academy – journalism workshops with TVS
- Opening of an exhibition by Katowice’s Intuitive Artists entitled „Katowice: City of Greenery”
- Demonstration of Traditional European Martial Arts
- A performance by the majorettes, a dance and gymnastics display
- Graffiti competition – Katowice 2064
