We warmly invite you to a meeting focusing on people with disabilities, stereotypes and accessibility. During the meeting, you will not only learn about various aspects of disability, but you’ll also discuss what it means to be a person with a disability, and take part in practical exercises on breaking down stereotypes and the various barriers faced by people with disabilities. We would particularly like to invite staff from Social Welfare Centres (OPS) and those working on behalf of the disabled community to attend the meeting. We also invite anyone interested in the issues of accessibility and people with disabilities.
Provisional agenda for the meeting:
1. A brief introduction to disability – types and aspects of disability,
2. The language we use when talking about and to people with disabilities,
3. Practical session: overcoming barriers (in communication and beyond) and challenging stereotypes.
Where and when?
The meeting will take place on Wednesday 13 March 2024, from 5.00 pm to 6.30 pm at COP Katowice, 14 Kopernika Street.
Presenter:
PhD in Economics Joanna Soworka-Wojniak – active rehabilitation instructor, who has been involved in the work of the Active Rehabilitation Foundation for many years, collaborates with numerous local and central government bodies, and is committed to supporting the community of people with disabilities.
