What is the Green Window of Transformation in Bytom?

The Green Window of Transformation is a space supporting the inhabitants of Bytom in the process of just transformation, aiming to build social acceptance of climate change and activate the local community. The project focuses on inclusive, educational and social animation activities, helping Bytom residents to face the challenges of ecological transformation.

Project Objective:

The main objective of the project is to support the people of Bytom in the process of equitable transformation and climate change. The project, which runs from 01.08.2024 to 31.01.2026, focuses on developing social acceptance of change and activation, especially among young people (15-29 years), women and seniors. The activities are aimed at raising environmental awareness and involving residents in the transformation of the region in accordance with the Territorial Plan for Equitable Transformation.

Target group:

The project is aimed at all residents of Bytom, especially young people (15-29), women, seniors (60+), as well as non-governmental organisations and anyone who wants to actively participate in activities for the benefit of the local community.

Planned activities:

  • Circle of Cultural Transformation - developing young people's creativity and involvement in cultural and environmental initiatives.
  • Green Film Club - inspiring films and discussions on climate challenges.
  • Community garden - working together to transform the urban space into a green oasis.
  • Academy of Transformation Educators - a programme for change leaders, developing skills in environmental action.
  • Women's Management Club - support women to develop managerial competences and participate in the transformation of the region.
  • Identity Walks in Bytom - discovering the city's history and involving residents in local activities.
  • Local Initiatives - the opportunity to implement your own ideas for social and environmental change, with funding for the best projects.

Needs met:

The project responds to the needs of the local community, such as:

  • Opportunities for active leisure,
  • Intergenerational integration,
  • Development of managerial skills in women,
  • Organising events for senior citizens,
  • Support for local social and environmental initiatives.
