Local Initiatives Club - Transformation

The aim of the project is to support the residents of Mysłowice in the process of just transition and climate change. The project, running from 1 April 2024 to 31 May 2026, focuses on increasing acceptance of change and social engagement, particularly amongst older people, women and young people (aged 15–29).

The objectives are in line with the Territorial Just Transition Plan (TPST). Activities include intergenerational integration, environmental education, the inclusion of women in the region’s transition, and the organisation of 10 local initiatives. The project will raise awareness and foster acceptance of the changes among at least 100 people, including 70 women.

Just Transition is the process of transforming the economy from a high-carbon to a zero-carbon model, with particular emphasis on the well-being of local communities in terms of job security and the environment in which they live.

Target group:

People living, studying or working in Mysłowice, in particular young people aged 15–29 and older people aged 60 and over, as well as non-governmental organisations.

The project will be financed from the European Funds for Silesia 2021–2027 – the Just Transition Fund in the amount of 695 025.00 zł and from the state budget – 77 225.00 zł.

Planned activities:

  • community engagement activities in support of the climate transition process,
  • measures to promote the inclusion of women in the region’s transformation and the development of their managerial skills,
  • educational activities relating to the green economy, ecology and the region’s transformation,
  • activities aimed at promoting intergenerational integration,
  • working to preserve local and regional identity and links with history and industrial heritage,
  • the implementation of 10 local initiatives developed by the project participants.

Needs met:

  • the opportunity to spend time actively,
  • intergenerational integration,
  • the development of managerial skills among women,
  • participation regardless of one’s „financial means”,
  • to increase the number of initiatives carried out within the city,
  • the need to organise activities for older people, including digital activities,
  • events designed to bring the local community together.

Time and place of the story:

The timetable will be agreed with the group (including afternoon sessions). Most activities will be organised and carried out at the premises of the Local Initiatives Club – Transformacja, at 18d Bytomska Street in Mysłowice

The outcome of the project There will be an increase in public awareness of climate change and the associated transformation processes, as well as greater acceptance of these issues amongst the 100 people receiving support – comprising 70 women and 30 men – and those around them.

An additional benefit will be an increase in community engagement through the implementation of 10 local initiatives organised by at least 40 people.

The following measures have been planned:

    • Every two weeks (2 hours)
    • Duration: 21 months
    • Number of workshops: 42
  3. Team-building events that foster a sense of identity:
    • Once a month
    • Duration: 21 months
    • Number of sessions: 21
  4. Intergenerational educational activities:
    • Twice a month (4 hours each time)
    • Duration: 21 months
    • Number of sessions: 42
  5. Green workshops (7 months):
    • Twice a month (3 hours)
    • Number of workshops: 14
  6. Educational training courses:
    • 4 editions, each lasting 4 days
    • Number of sessions: 16
  7. Local initiatives:
    • 10 initiatives (organised by participants)
    • Number of sessions: 10
