NGO Academy - making good laws!

The main objective of the project is to raise the level of expertise at least 110 representatives of non-governmental organisations working in the field of law-making. The project will place particular emphasis on training for organisations in the field of labour law, commercial law, economics and financial analysis. In addition, the project aims to strengthen the capacity of stakeholders involved in the law-making process at national level. This will be achieved through practical participation in public consultations. In summary, as part of the project, we will organise 17 training sessions and 30 consultation meetings.

Project participants will be able to develop their knowledge through basic (online and residential) and specialist training courses, as well as during consultation meetings. In addition, on the platform created as part of the project e-database knowledge and on YouTube The most interesting content will be published. 

Training courses for organisations – suggested topics: 

Basic training courses 

  1. Assessing a problem situation within a given area of law; searching for information, including legal information; analysing and evaluating the quality of the data collected, including assessing its accuracy. 
  2. Participation in the law-making process at national and local level, i.e. basic techniques of public consultation, the principles of lobbying for legislative change, and the legislative procedure at national and EU level. In addition, the scope includes knowledge of the principles governing the establishment and operation of civil dialogue bodies, as well as access to public information.
  3. Economics and business law, including the principles of the economic management of non-governmental organisations and the formal and legal aspects of economic management and the conduct of commercial and profit-making activities. In addition, the module covers topics in microeconomics, strategic planning, economic analysis and the principles of financial analysis, with particular emphasis on the specific nature of social enterprises.
  4. Establishing structures within NGOs that enable participation in the law-making process, with a particular focus on team-building and the management of staff and volunteers in NGOs. In addition, the module covers employment law, with particular reference to forms of employment in non-governmental organisations, including within the framework of projects, and the relationship between employment law and regulations relevant to NGOs: i.e. the Act on the Protection of Personal Data (UODPP), including provisions on volunteering and guidelines for the implementation of EU projects, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the Labour Code, etc.

Specialist training courses

  1. Advanced data management, processing and analysis, as well as data security, including the use of specialist tools such as CRM, advanced Excel, Power BI and others that enable working with large volumes of data and CSV files. 
  2. Aggregating data available online using programming tools and verifying it. The aim of the training is to show participants the possibilities offered by IT technology and online databases, and how to check the reliability of the data obtained. 
  3. Team management in non-governmental organisations. Motivating oneself and others to take action, the ability to work under time pressure, and the use of tools for team collaboration.
  4. Funding for consultation processes, including the management of financial resources within NGOs.
  5. Promoting the organisation’s activities through traditional and new media, and developing a promotional strategy for a given event.

All project activities are accessible to people with disabilities. Furthermore, the variety of support options enables people to learn in their spare time and to balance their professional, social and family lives.

The project activities were co-financed by European Funds under the ‘Knowledge, Education and Development’ Operational Programme for 2014–2020. The total value of the project and the funding from the Programme amounts to PLN 591,135.00.
