Together for the Marginalised – a local initiative in the Chybie Municipality

The „Most” Association for the Support of Non-Governmental Organisations, the informal group „Aktyw” and the Chybie Municipal Cultural Centre submitted an application and secured funding for the project „Together for the Marginalised – a local initiative in the Chybie Municipality” under the Human Capital Operational Programme, Measure 7.3 Local initiatives for active inclusion. The project has been running since 1 February and will continue until 30 June 2011. The project aims to involve the community of the Chybie municipality in activities to combat social exclusion, by fostering dialogue and cooperation through a grassroots community initiative designed to support the implementation of a local programme for social and professional activation. The partners’ primary aim is to raise awareness amongst the residents of the Chybie municipality about social problems, their root causes and ways to tackle them, to involve the residents of the Chybie municipality in the preparation of a local social and vocational activation programme, and to develop and implement a self-help programme.

Another key objective is to promote and support public-community cooperation within the municipality, aimed at combating social exclusion. The project is aimed at local organisations, community initiatives, institutions interested in tackling social problems, and young people in the Chybie municipality who are at risk of social exclusion. The individual tasks are carried out across two overlapping areas. The key activities in the first area include: seminars on tackling social problems, workshops on planning and preparing social projects, and meetings, during which a map of the municipality’s social problems and an action plan will be drawn up, as well as an away workshop at which a social support programme will be developed for people at risk of social exclusion in the Chybie municipality. The second area of activity involves the implementation of a support programme for young people at risk of exclusion.
