How can you prepare for an emergency? What should you do in the event of an evacuation, a power cut or communication problems? How can you access reliable sources of information and safely support those who may need extra help?
Please visit adult residents of Katowice to take part in free training courses organised as part of the project „RESILIENT KATOWICE – delivery of training programmes as part of public education on civil defence”, funded by the City of Katowice.
The aim of the training courses is to improve residents’ knowledge and preparedness to respond to emergency situations and strengthening decision-making skills safe and informed actions in an emergency.
About training courses
During the training, participants will learn the key principles governing preparedness and response in emergency situations.
The programme covers, amongst other things, topics relating to:
- alarm signals and warning messages,
- preparing for an evacuation and a prolonged crisis,
- the evacuation of people, animals and property,
- basic aid measures,
- protective measures and places of refuge,
- using reliable and official sources of information.
We’ll also talk about how to prepare yourself and your loved ones for situations in which day-to-day life may be temporarily disrupted, e.g. as a result of power cuts, communication problems, severe weather events or the need to evacuate.
Another important topic will be that, how to support other residents safely, who may need extra help.
For whom?
The training courses are aimed at adult residents of Katowice.
Participation in the training course does not require any prior experience or specialist knowledge.
