The „Seniors Consult!” project aims to inspire and stimulate civic activity among at least 200 seniors aged 60+ from the Silesian Voivodeship. An important aspect of the project is learning through practical action.
The main specific objectives are:
- A minimum of 175 people 60+ will acquire knowledge of public participation, online consultation activities and internet safety, including what other senior citizens' organisations (Senior Citizens' Councils and active organisations) are doing.
- Min. 25 persons. 60+ running non-governmental organisations will acquire knowledge of modern forms of running organisations working for the benefit of 60+ persons.
- There will be an increase in motivation and commitment in 200 people 60+ to pro-civic activities for other seniors.
- The 100 people 60+ will increase their sense of integration with other 60+ activists affiliated to RS or pro-senior organisations.
- 45 people 60+ will acquire new social and civic competences - teamwork skills, creativity and improved communication, which will be tested in practice during the implementation of 4 initiatives for other seniors.
Activities
The project has planned a series of activities that will run from 1 July to 31 December 2025, including:
- Educational activities: 75 hours of classes in civic education and participatory activities. Classes will be held in 5 locations in the Silesian Voivodeship. As part of these classes, senior citizens will learn, among other things, how to participate in public consultations, plan social initiatives and e-collaborate with local government. The classes will also discuss e-communication with government offices.
- Study visits: Organisation of 2 study visits to learn about examples of good practice in other organisations.
- Support for leaders: A meeting to create a support plan for 60+ leaders running NGOs and 3 residential meetings to develop the competences of older people working in NGOs.
- Educational trip for 60+ leaders to plan the implementation of 3 initiatives for other 60+ people.
- 3 senior citizens' initiatives.
