MOST Association is implementing an innovation being tested as part of the project „Innovation Generator. Support Networks 3” under the name „A new path, new relationships” – migrants in senior citizens’ clubs, which addresses the real-life challenge of integrating older people with a migration background, particularly those from Ukraine.
The project aims to break down the barriers that prevent older migrants from actively participating in community life, including the activities of senior citizens’ clubs.
The aim of this innovation is to develop two tools to support the integration of older migrants:
- A Guide to Inclusion – How to Welcome Migrants Aged 60 and Over to the Senior Citizens’ Club – a guide that will help senior citizens’ clubs, step by step, to open up to people with a migration background, particularly older people from Ukraine. The guide covers, amongst other things, preparing existing club members, how to invite new participants, inducting new members, and adapting the club’s activities to diverse cultural, linguistic and health needs.
- Map of support for older people from Ukraine – available in both digital and printed formats, it contains information on places that are welcoming to older migrants. The map will include, amongst other things, senior citizens’ clubs open to migrants, along with contact details, the types of support on offer and the languages available.
The project aims not only to support older migrants, but also to provide senior citizens’ clubs with the tools to integrate this group more effectively into local communities. The innovation is being tested in collaboration with senior citizens’ clubs in Katowice and other organisations, which have the opportunity to adapt the tools developed to their local needs.
This innovation is being developed in collaboration with older people from Ukraine, which enables the materials to be tailored to their actual needs and expectations. Thanks to the project „A new path, new relationships” – migrants in senior citizens’ clubs, The MOST Association aims to create a space for cooperation and mutual support between older people from Poland and Ukraine, thereby helping to build a more open and diverse society.
The total value of the grant is 70,295.00 PLN.
