An evening of remembrance for Wojciech Rydz (1932–2018)
We invite you to a special event in memory of Wojciech Rydz – a native of Silesia, an architect, an outstanding fencer and an Olympian, whose life was characterised by a passion for sport, art and architecture.

Wojciech Rydz – athlete and Olympian
- An épée and foil fencer, and multiple Polish champion.
- A member of the national team at the Olympic Games in Helsinki (1952) and a participant in the World Championships.
- After retiring from his playing career, he became a coach and an international referee.
- Coach to, amongst others, Henryk Fabian (Polish champion) and Krystyna Rachel (national team player).
Architecture and professional practice
- Head of the workshop at the Rural Construction Design Office in Katowice.
- An employee of the Provincial Town Planning Office in Katowice.
- Since 1969 – Technical Director of the Provincial Association of Construction Design Offices in Katowice.
- At the same time, he ran classes at the GKS Katowice club.
Arts and crafts
After leaving his job in the civil service, he set up the „Kuka” pottery workshop.
For his achievements in the field of ceramics, he was awarded the title of Master of Arts and Crafts by the then Minister of Culture and the Arts, Prof. Aleksander Krawczuk.
A life full of passion
Wojciech Rydz’s 80-year life was full of extraordinary events and anecdotes that could fill more than one fascinating book.

The event is organised by MOST Association. The project is being carried out, as part of a local initiative, by initiative group represented by Aleksandra Stasiak.
