Workshops „FOOD – a treasure I respect” This is a local initiative carried out as part of the „Social Transformation of Katowice” project, co-financed by the European Union under the European Funds for Silesia 2021–2027 programme (Measure 10.24 Social Inclusion – Strengthening the Just Transition Process).
A series of four free workshops It is an intergenerational initiative designed to foster responsible and environmentally conscious attitudes and to encourage the habit of not wasting food amongst the residents of Katowice.
The sessions are practical and educational in nature, and are led by people committed to promoting conscious consumption. Participants learn about pickling, fermentation, planning their shopping, making homemade preserves and desserts using seasonal ingredients, and discover the basics of making sushi in the spirit of zero waste. All with a view to fostering a daily respect for food and the environment.
Because good things are best done together. Across the generations!
For whom?
The workshops are open to everyone – older people, younger people and everyone in between!
Participation is open to those who meet at least one of the following criteria:
- live in the Katowice area,
- learn, study or work in Katowice,
- are members or volunteers of non-governmental organisations operating in Katowice.

→ You’ll learn how to make sushi, plan your shopping and minimise food waste.
8 May 2025 | 5.00 pm – Eco-education with a sweet twist
→ You’ll learn how to make desserts using seasonal ingredients and preserve their flavour in a jar.
14 June 2025 | 10.30 am – Recycle instead of throwing away
→ You’ll learn how to make kimchi and use up ingredients without wasting them.
