Report on the second edition of the workshop „Twist instead of throwing away”!

In an intimate workshop atmosphere, participants in the second edition of the event „Put a twist on it instead of throwing it away!” they explored together, how not to waste food - and how to turn ordinary vegetables into something really special. This time the protagonist of the meeting was kimchi - a dish that combines taste, simplicity and respect for resources.

Fermentation as art and practice

The workshop showed that fermenting is not just a culinary fad, but also a an effective way to save surplus vegetables. Participants were able to make their own portions of kimchi, learning the ins and outs of its preparation - from slicing, to seasoning, to sealing the jar and the first days of fermentation.

The class had a practical and educational format. Each step was discussed in detail and the presenter also shared tips on how to store pickles, what can be fermented „the Polish way” and how to take care of safety in the home kitchen.

Zero waste in action

The event not only promoted the idea of not wasting food, but also inspired to change daily habits. It shows how leftovers can be turned into a valuable product, how to take advantage of seasonality and how to plan purchases with „till the end” farming in mind.

Participants left the workshop not only with a jar of kimchi, but also with concrete knowledge and motivation to take action - in their kitchens, homes and also in their local communities.

Working together, making common cause

It was a simple, practical and flavourful meeting! Participants proved that fermentation can not only be a way to preserve food, but also to build community.
