What is the Spilno Hub - UNICEF Katowice?
It is an integration-friendly space for the Polish and refugee community, which was created as part of an agreement between the City of Katowice and the United Nations Children's Fund - UNICEF. The Centre operates on the principle of a community café. The Centre's activities consist of activation of Participants and their integration.
The Centre is currently based at 5-7-9 Morcinka Street in Katowice.
What help will you find here?
- You will receive information on the activities carried out in Katowice, whose purpose is to organise support and integration, especially for children and young people;
- You will benefit from an inclusive café;
- Children will benefit from animation activities in the play area;
- Children and young people will benefit from a library of Ukrainian-language literature;
- You will find psychological support;
- You will receive advice on law, speech therapy, pedagogy, psychology, career counselling as well as dealing with current and official matters in Katowice;
- Children and young people will benefit from Polish language tuition, tutoring according to need or classes to help overcome difficulties in mastering specific skills and acquiring knowledge;
- The centre will host workshops, information meetings and exercise classes for parents and carers of children;
- You will take part in workshops on anti-discrimination and violence, health education for children and young people, including teenage pregnancy prevention, healthy eating, cultural differences, gaining self-confidence, substance abuse prevention, alcohol and nicotine;
- Get help with Polish-Ukrainian and Ukrainian-Polish translations.
