About the project
The School for Environmental Educators is a series of five Saturday sessions, including two training trips. The programme combines theory and practice – ranging from themed workshops to study visits to sites implementing innovative environmental solutions.
SCHEDULE
18 January 2025
Face-to-face training – Kamil Szewczyk.
On the first day, we will focus on why environmental education is necessary, learn about the causes and effects of climate change and planetary boundaries, and define what a just transition is.
25 January 2025
Away training session: ”A visit to Bielsko-Biała: a craft workshop’ – Monika and Marcin Kogut, the FREE Foundation for the Development of Education and Ecology.
The „FREE” Foundation for the Development of Education and Ecology carries out projects whose main aim is to care for people, the planet and its resources. During our visit, we will learn about their key project, which is the development of a workshop called the ”Craft Workshop’. The Craft Workshop is based on responsible craftsmanship shaped by the Zero Waste philosophy. The upcycling method is used when working with materials.

Face-to-face training – Kamil Szewczyk.
The meeting will focus on the toughest challenges of the green transition and explore whether environmental activism is necessary; we will also look at some interesting examples of systemic environmental solutions.

Field trip – ”A visit to Bielsko-Biała: The World in Our Hands Foundation’ – Anna Chęć.
During the trip, there will be themed workshops led by Anna Chęć, a trainer and social activist with many years’ experience.
15 February 2025
Face-to-face training – Kamil Szewczyk
During the training, we will learn what energy efficiency is and why it is so important; we will explore the principles of good environmental education; and workshop participants will develop their own programme as future environmental educators.
Where and when?
Face-to-face meetings: Centre for Non-Governmental Organisations, Katowice, 14 Kopernika Street, 9.30 am–1.30 pm.
Training trips: a detailed timetable for participants.
For whom?
We invite residents of Katowice, people who work or study in Katowice, as well as members and volunteers of non-governmental organisations based in Katowice. You only need to meet one of these criteria.
How does this work in practice?
1. Take part in 5 training sessions.
2. Organise one educational activity for a group of young people aged 15–29:
– you will receive financial support to carry out your chosen educational activity,
– you will carry out the activity with technical support from a specialist,
– You will be paid for the work you have carried out.
3. Put the knowledge you have gained into practice and raise public awareness of the just transition process.
