We know the first conclusions of a survey of the municipalities in the Silesian Voivodeship most affected by energy and social change.
The survey covered Bieruń, Bytom, Jastrzębie-Zdrój, Mysłowice, Ruda Śląska, Rybnik and Zabrze, among others.
🔎 Residents' knowledge of a just transition, concerns about the future, as well as the readiness of local authorities for the coming changes were tested.
📉 Only 13% of those surveyed believe that their municipality is prepared for the closure of the mines.
🧭 43% residents have heard of a just transition, but only one in three understand why it is being carried out.
⚠️ Among the main threats are: loss of jobs, falling living standards, lack of alternative energy sources and difficulties in developing post-mining areas.
💡 On the other hand - it is also an opportunity to develop green energy, improve air quality and invest in the future.
📣 This is why the MOST Association is running 10.24 projects from the Fair Transition Fund in Mysłowice, Katowice and Bytom - supporting residents, women, young people and seniors to adapt to change and build a just future.
